If you are looking for a way to derail your school day, I have a golden opportunity for you.
It’s being given away. In this very blog post.
I’m giving away six skip days in the form of a series of books called Imagination Station. Now, I’m not giving you permission to give your student a book and go blog or something silly like that. (Not that I would ever do that!)
Sit and read. Somewhere cozy. Like on a couch or {gasp} lay in bed in your pajamas all day with your kids!
Hop into Mr. Whittaker’s Imagination Station {time machine} and allow authors, Marianne Hering and Paul McCusker (author and producer of the Adventures in Odyssey radio dramas), series to whisk you back in time. Written for ages 7 and up, this new series will have your family traveling back in time to sail with the Vikings, meet a Roman emperor, come face-to-face with China’s Kublai Khan, and experience a host of other historical adventures in the Imagination Station series for young readers.
History.
I know. I told you this giveaway was a ticket to a school skip day. Every day kind of feels like a school skip day to me. I *heart* school. Especially when it is “history” day.
Our main textbook for history is The Story of the World. And the Imagination Station series fits in PERFECTLY.
There is another very similar set of children’s historical fiction books on the market. Though we read them, it has always disturbed Asher and Ezra that the main characters never tell their parents they journey to other lands via a tree house to solve a mystery. The kids essentially lie. Though not malicious . . . it still isn’t honorable. There are also some elements in this particular set of books that require me to use them as read-alouds, not silent reading. I don’t trust the content. The worldview.
The Imagination Station series is birthed from a name that families can trust.
So . . . if I wanted to, I could send Asher off to read this book in the hammock chair. However, I won’t. Unless he is reading aloud to me.
I . . . um . . . really like reading the books. We have two under our belt.
FYI . . . book #7 will be released in January and book #8 is due out in May.
And now for the fun part. The giveaway.
Wait! No. Let me tell you about the fun part before the other fun part. Read the story. At the end of each story is a puzzle you have to decode. Once you obtain the secret word, use it to unlock audio stories, coloring pages, extra history lessons, parent helps, and even a listing of elements of the story that were embellished.
Win a set of 6 Imagination Station books! Join in the fun!
