A Simple Woman’s Daybook (6)

FOR TODAY:  Tuesday, November 9, 2010

Outside my window...  it is beginning to lighten up.  But the the drapes are closed so I can’t really tell you what is going on outside my window.  I did hear a rumor that this week is supposed to be fairly nice, especially for November.

I am thinking... that I so wish we didn’t have to move our clocks.  Just when the kids were beginning to sleep in until 8 or 8:30, now they are up at 7 or 7:30.  I love my munchkins dearly, but prior to the time change I was able to get my QT done, unload the dishwasher, and be better prepared for the day.  I felt like a better mom.

I am thankful for...  my sweet husband who leaves me precious notes in the morning.

From the learning rooms...  F week will be starting with Sir Honey.  Smackdown is wrapping up his phonics unit.  We plan on doing lots of Thanksgiving crafts and activities in the upcoming two weeks, especially with Smiley using this resource

From the kitchen...  lovely people have been making our meals and I have NOT been cooking.  But all of that will be changing by the end of this week.  Boo-hoo!  Thanks to everyone who made us a meal, though.  They were yummy!

I am creating... two very fun slings.

I am going... nowhere because my mom and my sister are coming over to make ornaments.  Find out why.  (You can join us.)

I am reading… A Basket of Flowers, The Bible, First Things First, Bringing Up Girls, An Excellent Wife

I am hoping... that Naomi sleeps well again tonight and doesn’t get the family cold.

I am hearing... Sir Honey play with his pumpkin cream cheese muffin that he is pretending is a house with a crack in it.  Naomi is also stirring.

Around the house...  well, it is looking lived in.

One of my favorite things... leftover chai – meaning that I don’t have to steep it in the morning.  It doesn’t really taste good as a leftover, but it saved time!

A few plans for the rest of the week:  take care of my kids, creatively find a way to bless my husband, fill out the ridiculous Health Department form to obtain Naomi’s birth certificate, write some reviews, and force myself to make a meal plan.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

Don’t get mad. Take a picture.

Allow my title to express my sentiments.  A certain older brother gave a certain younger brother a marker.  Even though said younger brother is ONLY supposed to have markers under adult supervision.

It is a simple rule that we all know in our family, but not all of us apparently follow.

Don’t get me wrong.

I like the color red.

Red looks good on a Gerber Daisy.

Just not on my two year old.

Who I found happily coloring his face and ears in the school room shortly after dinner tonight.

And it WASN’T a washable marker.

Cookies

Awhile ago I was desperate for any type of cookie toy I could get my hands on.  Since we are rather granola, or rather a moderately whole foods fanatic family, the thought of having a completely unwholesome toy being played with in the boy’ slightly dilapidated kitchen seemed rather contrary.

Hypocritical.

But then I got pregnant.  I had cravings.  And I had (well, still do have) a blog post due over at Totally Tots.  The book I chose {sigh} is all about cookies.  Go figure!

Thankfully CSN Stores came to my rescue in a very timely manner with a gift certificate, of which I have previously mentioned.

You can probably guess what  I purchased.  Cookies.

They’re pretend.

CSN 001

However, if they had been real, they would have still been hot from the oven due to the fact they were shipped to our house so quickly.

Thankfully, the boys don’t play with them ALL the time.  Then, I would know that I have totally deprived my children and taught them obsessive behaviors regarding desserts.

We have happily been preparing for our Totally Tots Once Upon A Book post by playing with this adorable Slice and Bake Cookie Set

CSN 011

and theses great Color Cookies.  (There are LOTS of hands-on learning opportunities with this game from Learning Resources!!!!)

But we also had to make some cookies.

Real cookies, I mean!

I love writing for Totally Tots.  They make me eat cookies.  Just kidding.  It happened to be a perk for this particular book . . .

A big thanks goes out to CSN for allowing us to sample and review some of their delicious educational resources and toys!  (I was not paid for this post.  I also get to keep the “educational” toys.)

By the way, are you impressed . . . I typed this one handed?!  The other arm was cradling someone in pink!

30 Days of Thanks, Minus a Few

I was pleasantly surprised when I noticed that my Bloggy friend, Conny, was once again doing 30 Days of Thanks during the month of November.

It was fun to see the button I created live on electronically this year.

Photobucket

Quickly, before I attempt to sleep before a certain little girl wakes up . . . today I am thankful for:

  • my mom cleaning my bathrooms and keeping my laundry moving
  • a good decaffeinated whole milk vanilla latte
  • a Hot Husband who walked in the door EARLY tonight
  • leftovers from a meal that SOMEONE else made, not  myself
  • my precious little boys who give me hugs and tell me they love me a whole lot more these days
  • that I had breakfast made for the boys this AM . . . so Mr. Smackdown brought his up and ate it in my bed while I fed Sweet Pea
  • Paperback Swap (see my link over on the side . . . I’m too lazy and tired to list it here right now)
  • my new blog design that is coming soon
  • Mussoorie is more active and hanging in there
  • and, of course, that Little Sweet Pea is finally here and not in my belly
  • oh, and Twitter, because it keeps me in contact with a friend who moved far, far, far away
  • and many more . . . but I want to go talk with the Hottie (sorry ya’ll)

Go link up with Conny!
