A Good Stocking Stuffer

In case you want a meaningful stocking stuffer . . . let me mention Pick and Draw by Rich Davis.

With the help of the Lord, Rich has created a great game involving drawing . . . body awareness . . . giggles . . . and fine character sketches.  Each game contains hours of fun . . . and an almost endless variety of potential cartoon faces – 60,000.

You could make it your goal to create all of those faces . . . I wonder if you could make it into the Guinness Book of World Records for it?

When you purchase your first game for $10, any game after that is only $8.  One year, I purchased three.

This is a quality gift . . . one that keeps on giving, teaches, and is fun.

For Asher, it recently inspired him to write a story . . . his first book, in fact.

So . . . if you don’t have one yet, go snag a Pick and Draw!

Pick and Draw Giveaway

He likes granola.  (So does his dad.)

Rich Davis, that is, and his dad.  I don’t know his dad’s name.  I just know he had a birthday recently.

Rich is the author of Gabe’s favorite book . . . that I can recite in my sleep.

I didn’t realize that until . . . well, until I contacted Rich a few days months ago.  We did an exchange . . . some granola for a Pick and Draw game . . . we bartered.  I felt like I was back in India.  It was great.

Firefighters to the Rescueis a very cool book.  It isn’t so much the writing that we like in this book, but the pictures.

Have you ever noticed that when you talk about a book, you typically only mention the author?  No one remembers the illustrator, unless you are reading an Eric Carle book.

It’s hard to NOT notice Rich’s work.

In the case of  Firefighters to the Rescue, I honestly don’t know the author.  Sorry author.  Rich really shines in this book.

Who is Rich Davis?

He is also the creator of a very cool card game.  A game that has really helped my 4 year old become aware of body parts.  Not that he didn’t already know where his legs, arms, eyes, and hair were.

And where farts come from.  {Ahem.}

But he never drew them until this game.

Pick and Draw.

Which . . . this body awareness has really helped him with our Bible lessons . . . and our Bible lessons are full of drawing . . . Stick Figure drawing.

Anyhow, with Pick and Draw, you have 5 piles.  A pile of faces, noses, eyes, hair, and mouths.

When it is your turn (you can also play alone), you turn over a fresh body part.  (Starting with the face.)

Draw it.

Work your way through the other body parts to create a cartoon character.

Easy.  Fun.  Great tool to throw into your purse or diaper bag.  Fabulous for workboxes.
