A Pack and Play for Naomi

Naomi has joined us for school.

DSC_0021

I don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner.

DSC_0026

It has worked fantastically this week.

A pack and play.

She loves it.

We can finally be back in the school room with sister’s hands keeping busy in a contained space, thanks to the pack and play.

Wordless Wednesday: Singing

She likes to sing.

DSC_0020

And open her mouth.

DSC_0025

Sing some more.

DSC_0026

And I guess . . . smile for the camera.  Because when I pulled the camera out – she opened her mouth.

DSC_0034

O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise.

One Whole Year

I greeted October 18th with a roar from deep within.  Last year. My voluminous thundering brought forth life.

DSC_0088

Without anyone being present but the Lord, the Engineer, and myself.  Not quite what we had in mind.   However, it was the reality.

DSC_0089

I sit here slightly incredulous.

One whole year?

DSC_0085(Your first unpasteurized, unfermented leche)

You are still like a little flower petal unfolding, revealing each intricate layer of how carefully the Lord crafted you.  And it is delightful.  Precious.

DSC_0025

Naomi Torah your name fits you so well.  Your name . . . Pleasant Word . . . you fill that name till it overflows and can’t contain the overflowing well of joy that you bring us.

Happy Birthday, sweet baby girl.

Wordless Wednesday: Daddy’s Little Girl

DSC_0197

My heart melts when I see the Engineer with Naomi.

Seeing those rugged hands that wrestle three sons hold our delicate mixture of pink and smiles. . .

Makes me sigh in gratitude.

Her First Tea

Her first tea.  I mean her first outfit from Tea Collection, a fun place to purchase children’s clothes.

DSC_0030

I must admit that I probably had a bit too much fun with this review.

I was given $100 to spend in girl’s clothing, boy’s clothing, or baby clothes.

It was a tough choice.  I was swept up by their Fall 2011 collection fashioned after Modern Mexico.  It inspired me to purchase the Putumayo Latin Playground CD.  Rather dramatic, but true.

DSC_0047

Naomi loves music . . . and I love Latin sounds.  It seemed perfect for . . . a fashion show.

It didn’t disappoint.

Nor did the clothes.

DSC_0073

I probably should have focused on the boys clothes . . . because Tea Collection has great outfitting capabilities and themed ideas with their newest collection.  Don't get me wrong, the boy’s clothing was cute.  But I’ve been buying or “borrowing” boys clothes for 7 years now.

A new girl’s outfit . . . now that was fun to order!

I just  looked on Tea Collection website . . . and they have an even better selection of baby clothes now!  (So hurry over there if you need to shop for clothes and want something unique and full of quality!)

I’m happy with our clothes, though.  Precious legs poked out of the Songbird Romper. . . which I failed to take a picture of them doing so.

DSC_0093

And the poke-a-dot suit . . . so delicate . . . perfect for this crawling baby girl!

DSC_0043

Or the Courtyard Tile Dress . . . which Naomi can wear as a shirt in a few years with some leggings or jeans.

DSC_0080

Be sure to follow Tea Collection on Twitter for the latest and greatest or on Facebook!

This is a MamaBuzz Media review. The product was provided by Tea Collection for this review.  I was not paid for my post.  And I thoroughly LOVED these clothes and would easily purchase from Tea Collection again!  Seriously.

By the way . . . they laundered nicely.

Wordless Wednesday: Naomi’s Accessory

I never knew a tongue could be an accessory . . . but it can be.

When Naomi is awake . . . you can always find her sporting her tongue.

(By the way, I can’t get the apostrophe to show up on my title.)

Always True

I decided to get serious about memorizing scripture.  Practicing what I preached.

Naomi is helping me.

030

I figured where do I spend a lot of my time?

Changing diapers.

Sure, I always talk to my pink, delicious, smiling bundle as I change her nappy . . . but why not feed her at the same time?

I wrote (though I wanted to create fancy cards using Word but never got around to it because I am already on the computer enough as it is) out the five promises from Always True by James MacDonald.

Because, remember . . . . that book seriously rocked my world.  Gave me a solid anchor this winter.  (Click on above link if you want to see the 5 promises.)

Each time I change Naomi’s diaper . . . I read one of the five promises to her . . . so that I can help her grow into her name, Naomi Torah.

Pleasant words are a honeycomb,

sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. (Proverbs 16:24)

The Simple Woman’s Daybook

image

FOR TODAY:

Outside my window... there is a moth fluttering, grass greening, and spot lights on to welcome the boys home from AWANA.

asher's 463(FYI . . . Sparky came to our house this week.  He had his own photo shoot.)

I am thinking... what on earth can I feed Ezra in the morning that doesn’t have calcium in it, and that I can’t wait for a full-fledged spring, and that I have NOTHING green to wear tomorrow.

Normally, I wouldn’t care.

But my friend, Nicole, deemed it field trip day in honor of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  I am thinking that a total stranger just might pinch me, all in good fun.  (Not my kind of fun – so don’t pinch me, Hottie.)

Since I care for God’s creation, I need to have green on . . . because I DETEST being pinched.  I am afraid that I might retaliate and punch said individual who pinched me.  (It all goes back to Santa Clause . . . he used to pinch my cheeks, when I was a kid, that is.)  Maybe I have some unresolved issues.

I am thankful for...  sunshine, the one lone sprout emerging in my greenhouse, chocolate almond milk, and when Ruthie naps (for those new to my blog, Ruthie is our Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy).

050

From the learning rooms...  we have established a new routine.  Immediately following breakfast the boys have to complete their handwriting, Stick Figure Bible from Grapevine Studies, and I am going to add Science to the line-up tomorrow.   (Asher is also doing a daily math page from Timberdoodle.)

From the kitchen...  I bought extra cabbage to ferment some sauerkraut since my last batch is almost fully devoured.  I’m going to begin curing a brisket in the hopes that if I actually follow the instructions it will become corned beef.

Yes, I know I’m a little late.  We are supposed to have corned beef tomorrow.   But I’m not Irish.  (The Hottie is . . . and our children.  I guess I’m outnumbered.)

I can eat Corned Beef whenever I want.

By the way, does anyone know what celery water is?  Can I just pulverize celery and water?

I am creating... milk (still), dirty dishes, and plants (with the help of the Lord.)

I am going... to see my AWANA boys soon and my friend Tina (in a few weeks)!!!!!!

I am reading… my list is too long these days.  Still the $64 Tomato, The Missionary, the Bible (of course), 1000 Gifts (as a devo with the Hottie). . .

I am hoping... to workout 5 days this week, lose 2 lbs, get my camera back, and sew a sling for a sweet gal named Emily.

I am hearing... Naomi’s monitor ding incessantly because it is out of range.

Around the house...  there is dust.

One of my favorite things... a meal that receives accolades and a good conversation with the Hottie.

011

A few plans for the rest of the week:  a parade, a visit with a friend, puppy kindergarten, fermenting, hopefully a date night movie, and planting more seeds.

014

Here is picture for thought I am sharing... I already gave you some photos . . . but if you insist.

Pneumonia

She stares up at me with those deep, twinkling blue eyes.

083

I hold her in my left arm while my right arm wills itself to hold the mask up to her face.

068

She grabs it like it’s a microphone.

And she sings.

And she laughs.

And she bats those long eyelashes.  The same eyelashes her daddy has.

067

While she sings, moist air flows into her lungs . . . prying them open like a crowbar.  Opening her chest with the same motion I slide her pink gingham curtains each morning.

The whole family joins in the concert. . . brothers dance a jig to the tune of Jesus Loves Me.

042

Every toy becomes a music instrument.

The nebulizer our base.

We exist to entertain her.  To will her lungs to clear up.  To beat her temperature down with our Melissa and Doug hammer.

Because we love her.

052

Now that the scare is over . . . I can tell you. I can process.  I can write.

I met pneumonia.  And I don’t like it.  Especially when it preys on my children.

Happy 3 Months!

It is so appropriate that today my little girl learned how to flip from her belly to her back.  And she was none too happy about her new found strength.

Three months . . . I can not believe how fast time is flying by.

011

Already . . . Naomi’s newborn cry is gone.  As are the little mouth clicks . . . sighs . . . gurgles.

However, they have been replaced with bright smiles and delicious laughs and warm snuggles that feel like hugs.

052

And . . . she has found her hand.  Not her thumb.  Her entire hand.
