Oolong Tea for Weight Loss

The little white truck with the cute dog pulled up to our house.  A short woman carried my green box to our red door.

DSC_0036

I brought it in to our white kitchen.

DSC_0042

And my purple clad daughter opened its contents.

“Oh Jesus, how I pray this Pleasant Word of mine won’t linger over food, but instead whip up Bible studies rich in savory Truth.”

Today ends day 1.5 of the Slique Regime.  I’m on my way towards winning that $5000.

DSC_0037

My day is simple.  Thank goodness.  My dishes . . . significantly less.  Thank you Young Living.

DSC_0045

However, Asher remarked today, “Why are you eating a bunch of Young Living food?”

Yes, my children are VERY familiar with the Young Living brand.  After all, it is what they ask for before an icepack or Arnica.

DSC_0053

I am thankful that one meal is replaced with the Balance Complete shake.  I know that I am steering away from my standard granola-like eating . . . but I have to make some radical changes for a season.

DSC_0054

(For example, instead of eating at church with the boys the other night . . . I brought my shake and just added water.)

I have to die to old habits.  And for me, that requires radically changing my eating habits for a season.

DSC_0047

Don’t worry, I’m still going to be taking my multi-vitamins, super duper green algae, probiotic, and cod liver oil.  I will continue to use high quality butter, coconut oil, and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.  You can bet that meat will still be in my diet, along with raw milk and raw honey.

BUT not my precious.  My precious mochas

Thanks to Humboldt County Tea and my electric hot pot I am surviving on significantly less coffee in my life.

I am a total food addict.  I am purposing in my belly to eat to live not to live to eat.

Here is my new eating pattern.  Lord help me.

Breakfast:

  • Balance Complete meal replacement shake (probably with some frozen fruit and kefir)
  • NingXia Red

DSC_0049

Mid-morning snack:

  • 2-3 drops Slique Essence in water kefir
  • fruit, steamed veggies, or nuts

Lunch:

  • Slique Tea 15 minutes before meal
  • 2 Essentialzymes-4 with meal
  • light, well-balanced meal (many of my recipes are from Perfect Weight America)

Afternoon snack:

  • 2-3 drops Slique Essence in water kefir
  • fruit, steamed veggies, or nuts

Dinner:

  • Slique Tea 15 minutes before meal
  • 2 Essentialzymes-4 with meal
  • light, well-balanced meal (many of my recipes are from Perfect Weight America)

Before Bed/evening snack:

  • 2-3 drops Slique Essence in water kefir, water, or low calorie beverage

Many of you have left wonderful comments wishing me the best, but that due to the cost of Slique you could not join me in this journey.

DSC_0051

I completely understand financial limitations.  Were it not for my growing Young Living Oil home business, I too, would not be able to afford my Slique Kit.

And I have something to admit.  I’m not all that keen on the taste of Slique tea.

So, I have partnered with my friend Dan from Humboldt Tea Company.  He is the one who originally got me hooked on drinking Oolong Tea for easy weight loss and pain free daily cleansing.

What is so special about Iron Goddess Slimming Oolong?  Humboldt County Tea  says,

Dr. Oz references slimming oolong regularly as a method of adding a natural metabolic booster to one's diet.  Ti Quan Yin, or Iron Goddess of Mercy, is the preferred choice of tea masters the world over for its perfect balance between the health characteristics of green and the depth in taste of black teas.

By simply drinking 3-4 twelve ounce cups of Iron Goddess each day, it alone will account for 7 - 10 lbs. of weight loss in a year.  Considering that one single dose of Iron Goddess leaves will steep 5 - 6 cups easily, it's a real value.  This tea is good for your vital organs and your blood pH by alkalizing your fluids, and by de-toxifying the tissues.

Want to lose weight with me?  But you don’t want to purchase the Slique Kit?

For every ounce of Iron Goddess Slimming Oolong you  purchase, Dan will include a free ounce of Cedarberg Rooibos Herbal Chai . . .

Why drink an after-dinner tea?

The Cedarberg Rooibos Herbal Chai is an excellent cup in the evenings to chase the munchies away, satisfying the indulgent impulses that come after dinner, but with no caffeine.

Rooibos nurtures the liver with micro-nutrients -- containing over a dozen trace minerals and several vitamins. It is excellent for digestion.

Mothers in South Africa bottle feed their infants who suffer from colicky cramps, easing their tummies and providing relief.

Last but not least, Rooibos contains more “anti-aging anti-oxidants” than green or white tea, and is excellent for the skin, providing elasticity and protection from the sun's harmful effects.

The coupon code for your next cup of tea is GRANOLAMOM.

Caveat:  a $10 minimum purchase is required.  In exchange, one full ounce of Organic Cedarberg Rooibos Chai will be included with any order of Iron Goddess of Mercy Slimming Oolong ordered with the above code.  As always for my readers, Dan will include a complimentary sample of something new with every order.

Go give Humboldt County Tea a visit!  And allow the man with the grey outfit come to your mailbox in his white truck.

Free Tea (if you read this blog post)

As I type out these words, I am heating some hot water.  Heating it to 195 degrees and then I will steep the tea for 2 minutes.

A spot of tea in the afternoon.  A lovely respite.  I have my time in India to thank for this habit.

DSC_0006

Today my tea will be perfect . . . in my new mug.

DSC_0005

A Vortex mug . . . that is unique to the Humboldt Tea Company

DSC_0003

The Engineer won it for me at a tea tasting party.  Just like wine is best when sipped from a glass designed for its taste and smell . . . tea also adores the appropriate cup.

The Vortex Tasting Cup is an exclusive design to Humboldt County Tea. This cup produces a richer, deeper taste from the 'Vortex' action created by its inverted design, concentrating the aroma and taste at the nose and mouth.

Tasting the same tea from the same teapot sipped from an ordinary teacup and the Vortex Tasting Cup will demonstrate quickly the difference proper design creates for the tea drinker. It literally tastes like different tea, just from the vortex action of our cup.

These cups are hand-crafted exclusively for The Humboldt County Tea Company, and are limited in quantity. Priced $8 each, 2/$14 or4/$24.

DSC_0007

But I’m not writing this to tell you about my tea.  I’m writing to tell you about your tea.

It has free shipping right now.  Until Midnight at the Humboldt Tea Company(Shipping is $2.99 normally BUT free on orders over $25.)

And Dan, the owner, he left a little message on my blog . . . if you tell him that “Jodi sent you,” he will send you a tea sample.  Be sure to mention what your taste buds are curious about!

I have tasted these Humboldt Tea Company teas . . . and liked them.

  • Naptown Snoozer ~ it will seriously relax you and put you to sleep for the night if you allow it to steep long enough.
  • Iron Goddess of Mercy ~ a fabulous tea if you would like to loose weight without changing your eating habits too much.
  • White Peony (Bai Mu Dan) white tea ~ has less caffeine than green tea.  Additionally, this tea is laid flat to dry . . . so that it does not begin the fermentation process of its own accord.
  • Moonswirl White Tip

Let me know what you get!  I’m going to go enjoy my tea now!

Steeped in Tea

I discovered why I truly love tea.

It ferments. On its own.

Do I need to say more?

If you know me . . . you know that I love tea (and fermenting).

You might think that I like coffee more.  But then you would be wrong.

DSC_0053

I heart tea.

If it is steeped correctly.  Which I am horrible at.

Tea . . . has class to it.  Tradition.  Endless flavors.  Stories.  People.

DSC_0060

I am sure that coffee does too.  In fact, the art of making a great latte . . . could stand alone as a thick book.

But tea . . . it just has that special “je ne sais quoi.”

DSC_0055

Maybe I’m drawn to it because I visited a real tea plantation when we lived in India.  And that momentary life we lived in India. . . was powerful.

That is where my love of tea . . . of chai began.

Anyway . . .

We received an invitation.  A webite launch.  It MUST be celebrated!  We made a date.  We learned a lot.

Humboldt Tea Company

Seriously, this is good tea.

DSC_0060

(Hint . . . hint . . . this tea . . . Humboldt County Tea . . .  would make for a great Christmas present . . . stocking stuffer.   Let me know if you need some suggestions.  Because I have some opinions.)

Just sayin’.

Meet Dan.

DSC_0058

He is the man behind Humboldt Tea Company.  (By the way, Humboldt County is in California . . . not Indiana.  There isn’t a Humboldt County in Indiana.  But there is a tea company.)

I’m so glad we didn’t have to travel to California for our tea date.

Nor do you.  You don’t even have to come to Indiana.

Dan will ship it to you.  I’m sad you may not meet him . . . because he knows a lot about tea . . . and he shares his knowledge without luring you to sleep, unlike Naptown Snoozer, a blend unique to Humboldt Tea Company.

When you receive your tea, here are some brewing guidelines – these temperatures will make it or break it . . . seriously.

  • White Tea -- 160F
  • Green Tea -- 175F
  • Oolong Tea -- 195F
  • Black Tea -- 208F
  • Herbal Tea -- 212F

And then there is the steeping time.  That largely depends upon the tea.

I’ve only touched the handle of your tea cup.  There is more tea learning to be had!

But I must go to bed.

Please support my new tea company.  When you go to Dan’s website, shoot him an email about his Vortex Tea Mugs (I won one!) . . . he designed them.  Tell him to put them in stock!

P.S.  I am blogging about this . . . because I like tea.  I don’t have ANY affiliate links.  I just had a fun date with The Engineer.  I wanted to share!

Wordless Wednesday: Invited to Tea

I was recently invited to a tea party.

Blessed to be the guest of honor along with the cast from Toy Story and other well loved animals.  (Animals that we are surmising often leave the basement a mess because certainly my sons wouldn’t do such a thing.)

002

Our imaginary friends happened to be using the trampoline as their table.

But I didn’t mention that to my hosts.

 003

What’s your favorite tea?

I had TAZO Awake this morning.  But my favorite is Azercay.

Tea with Tina on a Thursday

I don’t often write a blog post for a specific person.

christmas tree 021

But today, this post is dedicated to Auntie.

We had some tea (my favorite kind).

christmas tree 026

It (the tea) is kind of hard to come by . . . unless you happen to live in Azerbaijan.  Or you own an international grocery store.  Or someone leaves you a care package FULL of gifts to open whenever the baby blues hit . . . or all the children are screaming at once – whichever comes first.

christmas tree 023

The boys begged me to put our tea party on “the blog.”

christmas tree 022

And so I am . . . mostly one-handed once again.

christmas tree 032

Tea time commenced at 11:00 am.  It was accompanied by almond cookies compliments of the Sue Gregg dessert cookbook.

christmas tree 035

It wasn’t too terribly formal.  Just pajamas and bed-head.

christmas tree 036

But it lacked one thing . . . YOU!

So, here is some tea and cookies . . .

christmas tree 034

Enjoy!

My Steeping Cup

I just completed a photo shoot.

I won't be paid for it.

But it did make me happy.

And it is a little unusual.

I would like for you to meet my new Steeping Cup . . . .

. . . . that Sarah gave me to cheer me up.

Remember when I barfed on my blog?

Well, Sarah brought me a Steeping Mug to cheer me up.

We all speak different love languages. And Sarah's language is gifts (ahem David) . . . as is mine.

I also hinted around BIG time that I was envious of her steeping mug.

And now I am listening to the Nutcracker while enjoying my green tea that I stole from my mom. Actually, I didn't steal it. I "helped" her clean out her tea cabinet a few months back.

Until today, I never had the right tea mug for this particular tea. Good tea MUST be enjoyed in a good, quality tea cup.

Or the experience is lacking, in my eyes.

But not today. I am truly satisfied with my tea. And my mug. And my photo shoot.
